01Understanding Holme
What is Holme?
Holme is a home wellness inspection designed to help you understand how your everyday environment may be affecting your health and wellbeing.
We look at air, water, light, electric fields and materials, including humidity, dust and the everyday products in your home, then translate what we find into clear, practical recommendations.
Think of it as a health check-up for your home: not because something is necessarily wrong, but because your environment is another part of your overall wellbeing.
Why should I think about the health of my home?
We spend a significant part of our lives indoors, yet our homes are often overlooked when we think about health.
You might already pay close attention to nutrition, movement, sleep, supplements and recovery, while knowing very little about the air you breathe at home, the water you drink, or the everyday exposures around you.
Holme helps make that invisible environment easier to understand and, where useful, improve.
Do I need to have a health problem to benefit?
Not at all. Holme is designed for people who are already healthy and proactive about their wellbeing.
It's less about solving a specific symptom and more about understanding your environment, reducing unnecessary exposures and making informed choices about your home.
Who is Holme for?
Holme is particularly useful if you're already thoughtful about your health and want to understand the environment you spend so much of your life in.
You might be curious about your home's air or water, moving into a new property, preparing a home for your family, trying to reduce unnecessary exposures, or simply wanting a clearer picture of your living environment.
You don't need to believe your home is making you sick. Curiosity is enough.
02What we inspect
What exactly do you look at?
We inspect the parts of the home that can meaningfully influence your everyday environment: indoor air quality, water, light, electric fields, humidity and moisture, dust, ventilation, materials, cookware, cleaning products and other household exposures.
We don't test things simply because they can be tested. We focus on areas where the information can lead to a useful decision or improvement.
What kinds of problems do you typically find?
Often, they aren't dramatic problems.
It might be poor ventilation in a particular room, humidity that could be better managed, lighting that works against your sleep, a water-related issue, a product used every day that has a better alternative, or a small habit that's increasing an unnecessary exposure.
Our goal isn't to find something scary. It's to identify the changes that are actually worth making.
What are the health risks of an unhealthy home?
Environmental factors can influence things like respiratory health, allergies and irritation, sleep and general wellbeing, depending on the exposure, its concentration and how long you're exposed to it.
We are careful not to imply that every exposure causes illness. The purpose of the inspection is to identify meaningful risks and put them into context, rather than make you afraid of your environment.
03Science & trust
Is Holme based on science?
Yes. Our inspections and recommendations are informed by established research, recognised environmental and health guidance, and appropriate testing methods.
Where evidence is strong, we'll tell you. Where science is still developing or uncertain, we'll tell you that too.
We believe good health decisions come from understanding the evidence, not from making everything in your environment sound dangerous.
How do you decide what's actually worth changing?
Finding something doesn't automatically mean you need to remove it.
We consider the level of exposure, the quality of evidence, how often you're exposed, and how practical a change would be. Recommendations are then prioritised so you can tell meaningful improvements apart from things that simply aren't worth worrying about.
How is Holme different from a standard home inspection?
A standard property inspection mainly asks: is this building in good condition?
Holme asks a different question: how healthy is this environment for the people living in it?
We focus on environmental factors and everyday exposures that conventional property inspections typically aren't designed to evaluate, then translate the findings into practical recommendations for your wellbeing.
04The experience
What happens during a Holme inspection?
We visit your home, inspect the relevant areas, take measurements and samples where required, and learn a little about how you use the space.
Afterwards, we analyse the findings and turn them into a personalised report with clear priorities and recommendations.
You don't need to prepare your home specially or spend the day assisting us. We'll explain beforehand if we need anything from you.
How much of my time will this take?
Very little.
We want the inspection to be thorough without becoming another project on your to-do list. Most of the work happens on our side: inspecting, testing, interpreting the results and preparing recommendations.
You mainly need to give us access to your home and answer a few questions about how you use it.
Do I need to prepare anything before you arrive?
Usually, very little. We'll send you simple instructions beforehand if there's anything we'd like you to avoid changing before the inspection, or anything specific we need access to.
Otherwise, we'd actually rather see your home as you normally live in it.
05Results
What will I receive afterwards?
You'll receive a personalised overview of what we found, what it means and, most importantly, what we recommend doing about it.
Rather than giving you a long list of measurements, we prioritise the findings so you can quickly understand what looks good, what could be improved, what matters most, and what happens next.
What happens if you find something?
Finding an issue doesn't necessarily mean a renovation, a big expense, or another project for you to manage.
Many of the improvements we identify are surprisingly simple, and whenever we can fix something easily, we'll take care of it for you, whether that's replacing the wrong light bulb, making a small adjustment, or swapping out a simple everyday item.
For anything that needs a bigger intervention, we'll explain what we found, how important it is, and what we recommend doing next.
Our goal isn't to leave you with a list of problems. It's to leave your home better than we found it, and make the rest as easy to act on as possible.
Am I going to leave with a huge list of things to change?
No, that's exactly what we want to avoid.
A good inspection should reduce uncertainty, not create more of it. We prioritise recommendations by potential impact and effort, take care of the simple fixes where we can, and clearly separate what's important from what's simply nice to improve.
You decide how far you want to go.
06Practical questions
Can I choose which areas of my home are inspected?
Our inspections are designed to give you a complete picture, but we can tailor the scope where it makes sense. If there's something you specifically want to look into, or something you don't need tested, talk to us beforehand and we'll recommend the most useful approach.
Does this make sense if I'm renting?
Yes. Many aspects of a healthier home are within your control even when you don't own the property.
We'll separate the changes you can make yourself from issues you may want to discuss with your landlord or property manager.
How much does it cost?
Inspections have one flat price, set by the size of your home: €1,000 up to 3 bedrooms, €1,500 for 4–5 bedrooms and €2,000 for 6 or more (prices exclude IVA). Everything is included: the full inspection, water lab analysis, your report and the certificate. There are no surprise tests or fees afterwards.
